How Colorado taxes your paycheck
Colorado's 2026 employer worksheet uses 4.4% after a payroll deduction of $5,500, or $11,000 for married filing jointly. An employee can replace that amount through Form DR 0004. These payroll amounts differ from a federal tax-return standard deduction.
Colorado FAMLI is a separate employee payroll premium. The standard 2026 employee share is 0.44% of gross wages up to $184,500, and pretax health or retirement deductions do not reduce that FAMLI base.
| Item | 2026 rule |
|---|---|
| Income-tax withholding | 4.4% after DR 1098 payroll deduction |
| Default payroll deduction | $5,500 single/HOH; $11,000 married |
| FAMLI employee share | 0.44% of gross pay |
| FAMLI wage cap | $184,500 |
| Local occupational privilege taxes | Confirm none or enter known payroll amount |
These are employee payroll withholding rules. Your final income tax return may use different deductions, credits or rates.

Common paycheck questions
Does this automatically determine my local taxes?
No. Confirm that you have no local payroll tax, or enter the total local amount withheld per paycheck from your payroll records.
Does my 401(k) lower Colorado FAMLI?
No. Qualified 401(k) and health deductions lower income-tax wages, while FAMLI uses gross pay before those employee deductions.
How accurate is this Colorado paycheck calculator?
It estimates regular wages using official 2026 withholding rules and the assumptions shown. Bonuses, multiple jobs, credits, employer plans and year-to-date pay can change actual checks. Compare the result with your pay stub and withholding certificates.
Are my salary details stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Your entries are not sent to a calculation server, saved to local storage or used for advertising.
