How Minnesota taxes your paycheck

Minnesota payroll withholding uses the 2026 computer formula and the allowances on Form W-4MN. Each allowance removes $5,300 from annualized income-tax wages before the official single or married table is applied.

Head-of-household employees use the single withholding table. W-4MN allows an additional allowance for a qualifying head of household; enter the actual total from your certificate.

Minnesota Paid Leave starts in 2026. Employers may collect up to 0.44% of employee wages, capped at $185,000 of annual wages. This state cap rounds the Social Security base to the nearest $1,000, so it differs from the federal $184,500 base.

Schedule effective 2026-01-01. Annual totals project this schedule over a full year; they do not reconstruct earlier 2026 checks.
