How Louisiana taxes your paycheck

Louisiana's 2026 payroll formula uses 3.09%, including the withholding adjustment built into the official tables. It is different from simply applying the 3% individual income tax rate.

For an employee claiming the standard deduction on L-4, the annual withholding deduction is $12,875 for single status and $25,750 for married filing jointly or head of household. Employees who do not claim a standard deduction have withholding calculated on the full taxable wage amount.
