How Indiana taxes your paycheck

Indiana state income-tax withholding is 2.95% in 2026, with a separate county income tax. Choose the county where you lived on January 1; this calculator does not silently assume that county tax is zero.

Form WH-4 exemptions reduce both state and county withholding wages. The calculation includes $1,000 personal exemptions, $1,500 qualifying-dependent and first-time-dependent exemptions, and $3,000 adopted-child exemptions.

The county selector contains all 92 counties from the official October 1, 2026 notice. These current rates are applied to every projected paycheck; the annual estimate does not reconstruct any county-rate changes earlier in the year.

Schedule effective 2026-10-01. Annual totals project this schedule over a full year; they do not reconstruct earlier 2026 checks.

Common paycheck questions

Which Indiana county should I select?

For this resident calculation, select the Indiana county where you lived on January 1 of 2026. Indiana uses that date to determine the county for withholding.

Does the 2.95% state rate include county tax?

No. County tax is calculated separately using the selected county rate and the same net withholding wages.

Do the county rates reflect all of 2026?

The calculator uses the official rates effective October 1, 2026 for a forward-looking annual projection. Earlier checks may have used a different rate.

How accurate is this Indiana paycheck calculator?

It estimates regular wages using official 2026 withholding rules and the assumptions shown. Bonuses, multiple jobs, credits, employer plans and year-to-date pay can change actual checks. Compare the result with your pay stub and withholding certificates.

Are my salary details stored?
