How New Mexico taxes your paycheck

New Mexico uses separate 2026 percentage withholding tables for single, married and head-of-household employees. The tables already include their payroll adjustments; an additional federal standard deduction is not subtracted a second time.

Covered workers also pay a $2.25 workers compensation administration fee for each quarter in which they work on the last working day. For someone covered for all four quarters, that totals $9 a year. The estimate spreads this fee across paychecks while an actual payroll normally deducts it quarterly.

Common paycheck questions

Do I subtract the federal standard deduction before using these tables?

No. Apply the 2026 state table directly to taxable payroll wages; its thresholds already incorporate its withholding adjustment.

Why is a workers compensation fee shown?

Covered employees pay $2.25 for each eligible quarter. This is an administration fee, separate from the employer insurance premium.

Will the fee appear on every paycheck?

Not necessarily. The calculator spreads the annual fee across checks for comparison; the actual assessment is quarterly.

How accurate is this New Mexico paycheck calculator?

It estimates regular wages using official 2026 withholding rules and the assumptions shown. Bonuses, multiple jobs, credits, employer plans and year-to-date pay can change actual checks. Compare the result with your pay stub and withholding certificates.

Are my salary details stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. Your entries are not sent to a calculation server, saved to local storage or used for advertising.
