How Missouri taxes your paycheck
Missouri uses an annualized payroll formula and a standard deduction that depends on the employee withholding status. For 2026, taxable wages above the zero-rate band pass through rates from 2% to 4.7%.
A working spouse changes the Missouri payroll standard deduction to the single amount. Kansas City and St. Louis earnings taxes are separate from state withholding; a local amount must be confirmed or entered before a personalized estimate is shown.
| Annual taxable wage slice | Withholding rate |
|---|---|
| $0-$1,348 | 0% |
| $1,348-$2,696 | 2% |
| $2,696-$4,044 | 2.5% |
| $4,044-$5,392 | 3% |
| $5,392-$6,740 | 3.5% |
| $6,740-$8,088 | 4% |
| $8,088-$9,436 | 4.5% |
| Over $9,436 | 4.7% |
